The text below comes from the first half of Tobit, Chapter 2 (with some omissions). This chapter contains Thobi's account of the most devastating experience in his life which takes place one year during the festival of Pentecost. This festival, called Shavuot in Hebrew, the "Festival of the Seven Weeks," takes place 50 days after Passover.

Et sub Asarhaddon rege
descendi in domum meam,
et reddita est mihi
uxor mea, Anna,
et filius meus, Thobias.

Asarhaddon: Hebrew name (agrees with rege)

Thobias: Hebrew name (agrees with filius)

In Pentecoste,
die festo nostro,
factum est mihi
prandium bonum,
et discubui,
ut pranderem.
 
Et apposita est mihi mensa,
et vidi pulmentaria complura.
 
Et dixi Thobiae, filio meo:
"Vade et,
quemcumque pauperem inveneris
ex fratribus nostris,
qui sunt captivi in Nineve,
qui in mente habet Dominum
in toto corde suo,
hunc adduc,
et manducabit pariter mecum."

Thobiae: Hebrew name (agrees with filio)

qui sunt : relative pronoun, agreeing with fratribus in gender and number

qui...habet: relative pronoun, agreeing with quemcumque in gender and number

Et abiit Thobias
quaerere aliquem pauperem
ex fratribus nostris
et, reversus, dixit mihi:
"Pater!"

Thobias: Hebrew name (nominative)

quaerere: infinitive to express purpose

reverses dixit : participle plus verb (he came back and said...)

Et ego dixi illi:
"Ecce ego, fili."
 
Et respondens ait:
"Ecce unus ex natione nostra
occisus est
et proiectus est
in foro
et nunc ibidem
laqueo suffocatus est."
respondens ait: participle plus verb (he replied and said...)
Et, exsiliens,
reliqui prandium,
antequam ex illo gustarem,
et sustuli eum de platea
in unam domum,
donec sol caderet
et illum sepelirem.

exsiliens reliqui: participle plus verb (I jumped up and left...)

gustarem: subjunctive with expression of time (antequam)

caderet...sepelirem: subjunctives with expression of time (donec)

Et, reversus, lavi
et manducavi panem meum
cum luctu.

reversus lavi: participle plus verb (I came back and washed...)

Et rememoratus sum
sermonis prophetae Amos,
quem locutus est in Bethel,
dicens:

Amos: Hebrew name (agrees with prophetae)

quem: relative pronoun, agreeing with sermonis in gender and number

Bethel: Hebrew name (ablative)

"Convertentur
omnes dies festi vestri
in luctum,
et omnia cantica vestra
in lamentationem."
Et lacrimatus sum.
 
Et, postquam sol occidit,
abii
et fodiens sepelivi illum.

fodiens sepelivi: participle plus verb (I dug a hole and buried...)

Et proximi mei
deridebant me,
dicentes:
